Hi,
I'm trying to help out a trans legal scholar friend in Montreal. She's working with a psycho-sexual report out of the VU from 2008. In the study, which is pretty contentious, 30% of the study group disappeared. She needs help with figuring out what alternative options there were for trans people to get hormones other than the Vu. could you go to your GP, were there other clinics, did people go to Belgium, etc? Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Research help
Dear Mina,
I think it's going to be very difficult to find out where those 30% went too. All I can think about is the following:
- people could have stopped wanting hrt
- people could have gone to their gp for hormones
- some of them may have emigrated or may have passed away
- nowadays the vu works with local endocrinologists to which you may go to after transitioning is mostly finished. I am not certain if this was the case back then.
- nowadays you also have the psycho informa group, not sure when they started.
- in any ethical research, participants may choose to drop out whenever they want to
This is just a small list of possibilities for a 30% dropout. I hope I have been of any help to you
