25 km from my home. And I see paid parking there, possibly prices are high as everywhere in NL.
Then it is necessary to park a bit far away in some residential area and use bicycles to get to the end point.

Voor mij kunnen weekends altijd wel, als ik het een beetje op tijd weet.

I am trying to avoid places where is parking fee or entry fee. I spend all time with my wife then all those fees double for two persons. 40 EUR to spend time locally? Maybe too much?
Paris is 450km driving from Limburg. It comes to probably 50 L of diesel which costs around 1.2.
I think it is better to spend 60 Eur for a day in Paris(parking is free on Sundays and national holidays) than 40 Eur for a local garden.

Locally there are also places to spend time without paying too much. I would suggest national park Eifel which is located in Belgium and Germany. (maybe 20km from a NL border) There is a cycle route Aachen-Luxemburg built on former railway line.
It is not necessary to ride all distance. It is possible for example to park car at Konzen, DE, ride up to Kalterherberg (both villages are on a very border with Belgium). Then it is very nice cycle route along the mountain river back to Monschau, which is very nice historic village itself.

At the end I leave my wife in Monschau with bicycles, take bus back to parking place (bus stop is called Bahnhof in Konzen), I drive car back to Monschau, put bicycles on the top and the trip is over.

I think many other options are open for creativity.
